Total tried:       Correct:       Wrong:

Regimen : Stanford V for Hodgkin lymphoma.
Cycle: three 4-week cycles. Total regimen is 12 weeks.

• Doxorubicin, 25 mg/m2, IV, weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11
• Mechlorethamine, 6 mg/m2, IV, weeks 1, 5 and 9
• Vinblastine, 6 mg/m2, IV, weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11
• Vincristine, 1.48 mg/m2, IV, weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.
• Bleomycin, 5 units/m2 , IV, weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.
• Etoposide, 60 mg/m2 per day IV on 2 consecutive days in weeks 3, 7, 11
• Prednisone, 40 mg/m2 PO every other day for 10 weeks then tapered by 10 mg PO every other day between week 10 and 12
For mechlorethamine, vinblastine, vincristine, bleomycin and etoposide calculate the total intravenous dose per cycle for a patient measuring 5 feet 2 inches in height and weighing 177 lb. Click on the button below to see the answer and explanations

lb equals 33.76 mg, 67.51 mg, 16.65 mg, 56.26 units and 675.14 mg kg

• The patient height
= 5 feet 2 inches
= ( 5 × 12 + 2 ) inch
= 62 inch
= 62 × 2.54 cm
= 157.48 cm

• patient weight
= 177 lb
= 177 × 0.454 kg
= 80.4 kg

• BSA for the patient is

BSA = \quad sqrt(( Height (cm) × Weight (Kg) )/(3600))

 \quad \quad \quad = sqrt(( 157.48 \quad cm × 80.4 \quad Kg )/(3600)) = 1.8754 m2

• For Mechlorethamine :
( 6 \quad mg)/( 1 \quad m^2 ) × 1.8754 m2 × 3 (days of treatment) = 33.76 mg

• For Vinblastine :
( 6 \quad mg)/( 1 \quad m^2 ) × 1.8754 m2 × 6 (days of treatment) = 67.51 mg

• For Vincristine :
( 1.48 \quad mg)/( 1 \quad m^2 ) × 1.8754 m2 × 6 (days of treatment) = 16.65 mg

• For Bleomycin :
( 5 \quad units)/( 1 \quad m^2 ) × 1.8754 m2 × 6 (days of treatment) = 56.26 units

• For Etoposide :
( 60 \quad mg)/( 1 \quad m^2 ) × 1.8754 m2 × 6 (days of treatment) = 675.14 mg

\quad \quad Therefore,
\quad \quad \quad 33.76 mg, 67.51 mg, 16.65 mg, 56.26 units and 675.14 mg Ans.
