Total tried:       Correct:       Wrong:

Regimen : Stanford V for Hodgkin lymphoma.
Cycle: three 4-week cycles. Total regimen is 12 weeks.

  • Doxorubicin, 25 mg/m2, IV, weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11
  • Mechlorethamine, 6 mg/m2, IV, weeks 1, 5 and 9
  • Vinblastine, 6 mg/m2, IV, weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11
  • Vincristine, 1.40 mg/m2, IV, weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.
  • Bleomycin, 5 units/m2 , IV, weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.
  • Etoposide, 60 mg/m2 per day IV on 2 consecutive days in weeks 3, 7, 11
  • Prednisone, 40 mg/m2 PO every other day for 10 weeks then tapered by 10 mg PO every other day between week 10 and 12
For doxorubicin, mechlorethamine and bleomycin calculate the total intravenous dose per cycle for a patient measuring 5 feet 3 inches in height and weighing 290 lb.

Click on the button below to see the answer and explanations

lb equals 362.93 mg, 43.55 mg and 72.59 units kg

  • The patient height
    = 5 feet 3 inches
    = ( 5 × 12 + 3 ) inch
    = 63 inch
    = 63 × 2.54 cm
    = 160.02 cm

  • patient weight
    = 290 lb
    = 290 × 0.454 kg
    = 131.7 kg

  • BSA for the patient is

BSA `= \quad sqrt(( Height (cm) × Weight (Kg) )/(3600))`

    ` \quad \quad \quad = sqrt(( 160.02 \quad cm × 131.7 \quad Kg )/(3600)) = 2.4195 ` m2

  • For Doxorubicin :
    `( 25 \quad mg)/( 1 \quad m^2 )` × 2.4195 m2 × 6 (days of treatment) = 362.93 mg

  • For Mechlorethamine :
    `( 6 \quad mg)/( 1 \quad m^2 )` × 2.4195 m2 × 3 (days of treatment) = 43.55 mg

  • For Bleomycin :
    `( 5 \quad units)/( 1 \quad m^2 )` × 2.4195 m2 × 6 (days of treatment) = 72.59 units

`\quad \quad` Therefore,
`\quad \quad \quad` 362.93 mg, 43.55 mg and 72.59 units `Ans.`
